Former CIA Director John Brennan on Wednesday commented on reported scrutiny he has faced from the Justice Department (DOJ), saying he\u2019s \u201chad no contact” with federal officials.<\/p>\n
The Washington Post reported Wednesday<\/a> that the DOJ said that former FBI Director James Comey and Brennan were facing a \u201ccriminal investigation.”<\/p>\n \u201cI don’t know whether or not there’s any, you know, validity to it. If there is \u2014 it was a referral,\u201d Brennan told MSNBC\u2019s Nicolle Wallace on \u201cDeadline: White House,\u201d in a clip highlighted by Mediaite<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIf there is an investigation, presumably, if there is an investigation, that people will be questioned, I would be questioned about it. But again, I’ve had no contact from them,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Fox News first reported Tuesday that according to Justice Department sources, a criminal investigation faced by Comey and Brennan was connected to their 2017 investigation<\/a> into President Trump\u2019s ties with Russia.<\/p>\n According to the Post, a source familiar said CIA director John Ratcliffe referred Brennan for criminal investigation over allegedly being dishonest during congressional testimony.<\/p>\n \u201cI know nothing about this reported investigation or referral to the DOJ, other than what I’ve read in these press reports, these leaks, which are not really supposed to happen if there is an investigation going on,\u201d Brennan said Wednesday.<\/p>\n \u201cWe do not comment on ongoing investigations,\u201d a Justice Department spokesperson said in an emailed response to The Hill on Thursday.<\/p>\n The CIA did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.<\/p>\n Updated at 10:52 a.m. EDT<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Former CIA Director John Brennan on Wednesday commented on reported scrutiny he has faced from the Justice Department (DOJ), saying he\u2019s \u201chad no contact” with federal officials.
