I think he sort of indirectly already has that job,\u201d Trump told NewsNation\u2019s Libbey Dean aboard Air Force One when asked whether Miller was under consideration for the post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a very valued person in the administration,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump added that his timeline to pick a replacement is \u201cwithin six months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump last week reassigned former national security adviser Mike Waltz to be his new nominee to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. At the same time, he tapped Secretary of State Marco Rubio to serve as national security adviser on an interim basis.<\/p>\n<p>Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/5278188-trump-nominee-national-security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported Friday<\/a> that Miller was \u201cgathering buzz\u201d in Washington amid the search for Waltz\u2019s replacement.<\/p>\n<p>Miller has been a leading force in Trump\u2019s immigration crackdown, as the president\u2019s homeland security adviser, and is often a public face of the administration\u2019s most divisive deportation actions.<\/p>\n<p>Becoming national security adviser would mark a significant shift for Miller within Trump\u2019s inner circle.<\/p>\n<p>Miller was part of a Signal group chat that inadvertently included The Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg.
